|BNature and climate|N: Mainly highland plateaus sloping towards the Idian Ocean in east. Elevation in northeast up til 3000 m.a.s.l. There are several extincted volcanoes. Mount Kenya reaches 5 200 m.a.s.l. and Mount Elgon 4 321 m.a.s.l. Gregory Rift runs through Kenya from south to north.
Mangrove by the coast of the Indian Ocean and mainly grass savannahs in the rest of the country. Many big animals live in Kenya: Lions, leopards, gepards, hippopatomas, antilopes, buffaloes, rhinocerus, zebroes, elephants and many others are common and there are vast national parks.
Average temperature in the lowlands between 25 and 30°C throughout the year. Much coller in the mountains. Percipitation between 800 and 1500 mm by the coast and in the mountains, in the vast plains only about 200 mm.
